Profile : Arron Newby
Having spectated on rallies from a young age, Arron has always had a passion for motorsport. Firstly in the form of a quad bike closely followed by a moto-cross bike.
Arron has been involved with rallying for the majority of his lifetime and been fortunate enough to have sat alongside many top name drivers from the age of six: Mark Higgins, Adam Gould, Keith Cronin, Jock Armstrong, Elfyn Evans, Gwndaf Evans and Jimmy McRae to name a few when away testing with TEG Sport, his families company.
In 2010 Arron's first taste of competing was at his local car club Autotest one Sunday afternoon in his newly acquired left hand drive Ford Escort MkII. He went on to compete on several autotests in a Nissan Micra after taking his BARS test.
2011 saw Arron go on to compete in a 1.0 litre Nissan Micra on the Kick Energy Pirelli Formula 1000 Junior rally championship, supported by TEG SPORT, Pirelli and Revolution wheels. Arron earned himself several podium finishes and 5th overall in the championship an amazing result for his first year competing and was awarded the first under 16 year old Junior Formula 1000 trophy.
Arron left school in 2011 attaining 14 GCSE's and a Grade 2 merit in mechanical engineering, he has taken an apprenticeship at his parents Warton based motorsport preparation company TEG Sport as a Motorsport technician. When not working or competing Arron can be found on his Playstation simulator!! His hobbies include going to the gym, go-karting, moto-cross and cycling.
